Al-Ahly’s talented goalkeeper Hamza Alaa has stirred up a storm within the Red Castle with a recent Instagram post about his contract renewal talks with the Red Devils.
The young shot-stopper’s words have sent shockwaves through the club, raising questions and tempers alike as his deal nears its end.
Hamza said via his official Instagram account, “I want to clarify an important point regarding what has been said about me in the media recently, and what is being circulated about my refusal to sit with the management of the club that I have been honored to belong to since my childhood until now.”
“What has been circulating recently is not true. I have never been late for any meeting related to the club’s interest, and I respect every official in this entity. I am always there to listen and speak whenever the officials ask me to, and they hold a special place in my heart.”
With his contract expiring this season, Hamza could soon leave for free.
An Al-Ahly insider told Kooora, “There is a state of distress among the club’s football officials due to Hamza Alaa’s behavior for two reasons. The first is that he violated the team’s media ban, especially since he was warned not to discuss the matter at the moment, and a response will be provided after the matches against Al Hilal and Pyramids.”
“The second reason is that his statements clearly implied that there was a shortcoming in the contract renewal file, as he stated that no one met with him. Consequently, Mohamed Ramadan, the sporting director, and his deputy, Mohamed Shawky, did not meet with him, and thus the Red Devils fans were angry with the duo.”
“This matter caused a state of controversy that was ill-timed, given the necessity of imposing a media ban and intense focus before the important match against Al Hilal next Tuesday in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.”
