MC Alger will face a tough challenge in their CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, as goalkeeper Abdellatif Ramdhan has been ruled out with an ongoing injury.
The Algerian side confirmed the setback on their Facebook page, leaving them without their key shot-stopper for the trip to South Africa.
The club’s statement read, “Our goalkeeper Abdellatif Ramdhan will miss the team’s trip to South Africa due to the same injury that caused him to leave the national team’s training camp.”
Ramdhan, who sat out Algeria’s national team camp in March, saw the injury flare up again during the first leg against Orlando Pirates, which MC Alger lost 1-0 at home.
The defeat in Algiers has put the capital club in a precarious position, and Ramdhan’s absence adds to their woes.
Fans are now pinning their hopes on a swift recovery for the goalkeeper while expecting his stand-in to rise to the occasion against a confident South African side.
