In a surprise move, Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab are edging closer to completing the signing of Stade Rennais midfielder Glen Kamara.
The 29-year-old, who joined Rennes just six months ago for €10m from Leeds United, could soon be on his way out after a limited stint in France. Kamara has featured just 13 times for Rennes and was recently excluded from the squad by manager Jorge Sampaoli following the club’s disappointing Coupe de France exit.
Al Shabab’s interest comes after early Premier League interest from Southampton and Ipswich Town, though the move to the Middle East now seems likely. Despite the challenges Rennes have faced this season, including their precarious position near the relegation zone, Kamara’s departure appears to be part of a broader reshuffle as the club looks to improve their squad in the second half of the campaign.
Kamara’s exit would mark another twist in his brief yet eventful Rennes career, one that has seen him struggle to find a consistent role under Sampaoli’s system.
