Senegalese striker Abdallah Sima is poised to make his comeback for Glasgow Rangers in their upcoming match against Hibernian FC on Saturday, marking his return to action after more than two months on the sidelines following his withdrawal from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
During a press conference on Friday, Glasgow Rangers coach Philippe Clement confirmed that Sima is expected to rejoin the squad for the crucial fixture against Hibernian.
However, Clement emphasized the need for caution in reintegrating the 22-year-old former Slavia Prague player, highlighting the importance of gradually rebuilding his match fitness.
“Sima has been away for a long time, so we can’t expect miracles from the start. He has this quality with goals. But now it’s about getting the rhythm back,” Clement stated.
Sima’s absence dates back to January 20 when he was forced to withdraw from the Senegal National Team during the Africa Cup of Nations due to an injury to the adductor longus of his left thigh sustained in training.
The injury came as a significant setback for Sima, who had enjoyed a standout first half of the season with impressive performances, notching 15 goals and 2 assists in 33 matches across all competitions.
Now, with his recovery progressing, Sima has gradually returned to training and is poised to make his presence felt for Rangers once again.
“He will play an important role in the last two months remaining of this season,” Clement affirmed, underscoring Sima’s significance to the team’s aspirations as they enter the crucial phase of the campaign.
Rangers fans will be eagerly anticipating Sima’s return to action, hoping that his goal-scoring prowess can provide a timely boost to the team’s fortunes in the remaining matches of the season.
