Ghazl El Mahalla deny Al Ahly approach for Mahmoud Salah as club sets condition for transfer
Ghazl El Mahalla have dismissed reports of negotiations with Al Ahly over Mahmoud Salah, with sporting director Sherif El-Khashab insisting the club has not received any official offer and will only consider the player’s departure if a satisfactory financial proposal arrives.
Speculation surrounding the future of the Ghazl El Mahalla midfielder has intensified during the transfer window, with links to several clubs, including Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
However, the club says no formal discussions have taken place and that any reports of negotiations remain unofficial.
Speaking in a television interview, El-Khashab made it clear that Ghazl El Mahalla’s position has not changed.
Mahmoud Salah remains under contract and continues to be regarded as one of the team’s most important players, although the club would be prepared to evaluate a suitable offer if one is formally submitted.
The sporting director explained that, despite the transfer rumours, the club has yet to receive any official bid from either domestic or foreign teams.
Ghazl El Mahalla insist no official offer has arrived
Addressing the speculation, El-Khashab said the club is focused on protecting its interests while remaining open to opportunities that benefit both the player and Ghazl El Mahalla.
He said: “Our priority is for Mahmoud Salah to turn professional in a way that is financially satisfactory, and even if we receive a good domestic offer from a financial standpoint, we will study the matter.”
His comments indicate that the club is willing to listen to proposals, but only if they meet its financial expectations.
El-Khashab also underlined the player’s importance to the squad and insisted there is currently no reason to discuss a transfer without a formal approach.
He added: “Apart from that, Salah is with Ghazl El Mahalla and he is one of the key players that are relied upon.”
The remarks reinforce the club’s desire to keep hold of the midfielder unless an offer arrives that reflects his value.
Club rejects rumours of Al Ahly negotiations
One of the main rumours during the current transfer window has linked Mahmoud Salah with Al Ahly, but Ghazl El Mahalla says there has been no official contact from the Cairo club.
El-Khashab stressed that the club does not treat informal discussions as negotiations.
He said: “We do not recognize any informal communication, and it is possible that there are talks through agents only, but we have not received any official offer.”
According to the sporting director, discussions involving agents should not be interpreted as negotiations between clubs.
He explained that the club has only received indications that intermediaries are attempting to market the player rather than formal approaches from interested teams.
Overseas move remains a possibility
Although no official bid has been received, El-Khashab acknowledged that Mahmoud Salah has attracted attention from representatives seeking opportunities abroad.
He said: “There are two agents who are talking about marketing Mahmoud Salah abroad, and if we receive a financial offer that satisfies the club, there is a great possibility of agreeing, because we are looking to benefit from the player, and we encourage professionalism abroad.”
Those comments suggest the club would welcome an overseas transfer if the financial terms prove acceptable.
However, El-Khashab reiterated that no club, whether in Egypt or abroad, has yet submitted a formal proposal.
He again confirmed that all current discussions remain at the level of agents rather than official club-to-club negotiations.
For now, Ghazl El Mahalla’s position remains unchanged.
Mahmoud Salah will continue with the club unless a suitable offer is officially presented, with the management maintaining that financial value will be the deciding factor in any future transfer.
