Ghazl El Mahalla stood tall on Monday night as they frustrated Al Ahly in a tense goalless draw in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The home fans roared with pride as their team fought with discipline, refusing to bow to the relentless pressure of the league giants.
The match became a tactical battle between Jose Ribeiro of Al Ahly and Alaa Abdel Aal of El Mahalla, but the real star was goalkeeper Amer Mohamed Amer, who was named Man of the Match for his superb saves.
Al Ahly pressed hard early on with Zizo’s header and Trezeguet’s strike, but Amer denied both efforts. Yehia Zakaria cleared danger at the back, while El Mahalla’s defenders blocked wave after wave of attacks.
Substitutions did little to change the rhythm. Al Ahly introduced Ahmed Nabil Koka, Ben Sharqi, and Mohamed Sherif, yet Mahalla held their ground with determination and organization. The crossbar denied Al Ahly a late winner from Ashraf Dari, leaving Riveiro’s men on five points and Mahalla with four after their fourth straight draw.
