The Ghana U17 women’s national team, known as the Black Maidens, have advanced to the final of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup following a commanding 5-0 victory over Ivory Coast in Thursday’s semi-final.
The match, held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, saw the Black Maidens showcase their attacking strength, with star player Christana Ashiaku leading the charge.
The forward made an impressive impact in the first half, scoring a hat-trick to give Ghana a commanding 3-0 lead by halftime.
Her first goal came in the 14th minute, followed by two more before the break, cementing her role as the game’s standout player.
In the second half, additional goals from Zipporah Ayantoya and Seidatu Wahab sealed the win for Ghana.
The Black Maidens will now await the winner of the upcoming semi-final between Nigeria and Benin, scheduled for later this evening, as they aim for glory in the tournament’s inaugural edition.
