Officials at Al Ahly have finalized negotiations with a promising young Ghanaian player, Edward, as they seek to fortify the squad given the advancing age of Tunisian defender Ali Maaloul and the absence of notable substitutes in this position, except for the promising young talent Karim El-Deeb.
Sources from within the club revealed to “Al-Masry Al-Youm” that Marcel Koller, the head coach, expressed admiration for Edward, a young talent from Ghana who operates on the left flank.
Edward was among the players recently shortlisted by the club’s scouting committee for evaluation by the coaching staff.
The scouting committee, led by Hany Ramzy, had previously identified and recommended five Ghanaian players to the coaching staff.
These players arrived in Cairo a few days ago and underwent an observational period with the club’s youth team.
After Swiss coach Marcel Koller assessed them, he decided to move forward with the signing of two standout talents, urging the club to finalize the agreements, emphasizing their potential contributions to the club’s future.
Edward is a versatile player for the left-wing, while the second player is a direct striker.
The move aligns with Al Ahly’s commitment to rejuvenate and strengthen the squad, ensuring a seamless transition of talent and securing a promising future for the club.
