The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has assigned Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea to oversee the critical AFCON 2025 qualifying match between Tunisia and Gambia. Set for Monday, 18 November 2024, the match will take place at the Hamadi Agrebi Olympic Stadium in Rades, with kickoff scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
Micky Jnr, a journalist with close ties to CAF, confirmed Laryea’s appointment, marking a significant officiating role for the experienced Ghanaian referee as both teams vie for a crucial position in the final stages of the qualifiers.
Before meeting Gambia, Tunisia, known as the “Eagles of Carthage,” will face Madagascar in an away match at Johannesburg’s First National Bank Stadium.
Scheduled for Thursday, 14 November 2024, that match will kick off at 16:00 GMT and could influence Tunisia’s approach as they prepare to secure their spot in AFCON 2025.
Despite a recent 1-1 draw, Tunisia leads their qualification group with seven points, narrowly edging out Comoros, who hold six points.
With Gambia and Madagascar both aiming to close the gap, the November matches will be decisive for each team’s qualification hopes.
The final clash between Tunisia and Gambia will undoubtedly draw attention, with Laryea’s role crucial in managing what is expected to be a fiercely contested battle for AFCON 2025 qualification.
