Joseph Paintsil, the 26-year-old Ghanaian international striker, has officially joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as he signs with the Los Angeles Galaxy. The announcement was made by the LA Galaxy on their official website, confirming the acquisition of Paintsil from Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk. The talented forward has inked a four-year contract that extends until the culmination of the 2027 MLS season.
The arrival of Joseph Paintsil has sparked considerable excitement within the ranks of the LA Galaxy, with coach Greg Vanney expressing enthusiasm about the club’s newest addition.
Vanney remarked, “We are happy to add a player of Joseph’s quality to the LA Galaxy. Joseph is a dynamic winger with and without the ball who possesses the ability to change the game instantly. We look forward to quickly integrating him into our group.”
Paintsil’s football journey has taken him through various European clubs, showcasing his skills in Hungary, Turkey, and Belgium. The Ghanaian striker commenced his professional career in his homeland before a loan spell with Hungarian club Ferencvárosi TC during the 2017-2018 season.
Upon returning from loan, Paintsil secured a move to KRC Genk in Belgium in 2018.
The seasoned forward expanded his horizons in 2020 by venturing into the Turkish championship with MKE Ankaragücü during a loan period. His return to Genk in 2021 proved impactful, as Paintsil played a pivotal role in the club’s qualification for the 2023-24 Europa Conference League.
During the group stages of the competition, he contributed significantly with two goals and an assist. Across 39 matches in all competitions during the 2022-2023 campaign, Paintsil tallied an impressive 18 goals and 14 assists for Genk.
