Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC have secured the services of Ghanaian forward Augustine Okrah, as reported exclusively by GHANAsoccernet.com.
The Bechem United standout has already undergone a medical examination in Tanzania after his arrival, with an official announcement of the transfer imminent.
Yanga is said to be investing around US$150,000 in this acquisition.
Okrah, a 30-year-old attacking midfielder, returned to Bechem United in September after his contract with Yanga’s rivals, Simba SC, expired.
His notable contributions to the Ghana Premier League include eight goals and two assists in 15 matches this season, earning him the Player of the Month award for November.
This move marks Okrah’s transition from Simba to Yanga, paralleling his previous switch between two rival clubs in Sudan.
The player, who previously played for Al Hilal SC and Al Merreikh, is expected to intensify the rivalry between the two Dar es Salam clubs.
His football journey has taken him through various countries, including Sweden, Egypt, and India, since graduating from the Red Bull Academy in July 2012.
Notably, Okrah’s move follows in the footsteps of Bernard Morrison, another Ghanaian player who traversed between Yanga and Simba, emphasizing the competitive dynamics between the two Tanzanian football powerhouses.
