Jonathan Mensah, former Ghana defender, has been officially introduced by the New England Revolution in anticipation of the upcoming Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
Having departed the San Jose Earthquakes, Mensah’s arrival marks a new chapter as he embarks on a one-year contract for the 2024 MLS, with an option for an additional year in 2025.
A seasoned MLS campaigner, Mensah brings seven years of experience to New England, notably spending six years with the Columbus Crew from 2017-2022.
During this period, under the guidance of head coach Caleb Porter, Mensah played a pivotal role in securing the 2020 MLS Cup, featuring in every minute of the regular season and playoffs, earning recognition in the MLS Best XI.
His achievements extended to winning the Campeones Cup in 2021 with the Crew, followed by a career-high 30 starts in the 2022 season.
In 2023, Mensah joined the San Jose Earthquakes, contributing to their postseason qualification with 26 appearances and 21 starts.
Renowned for his defensive prowess, Mensah served as the captain for Columbus, earning the title of Crew’s Defender of the Year consecutively from 2018 to 2020.
The 33-year-old defender anticipates a remarkable journey with the New England Revolution in the upcoming season.
