Brighton & Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey has reaffirmed his determination to make a robust return to the Black Stars squad following his absence from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers due to injury. This setback marks the second occasion Lamptey has missed an international window, with a previous withdrawal during matches against Angola in March also attributed to injury.
The 22-year-old suffered an injury during a clash against West Ham United in March, sidelining him for the remainder of the season. Despite these setbacks, Lamptey remains resolute in his commitment to rehabilitation and is focused on regaining full fitness. When queried about his return, he expressed his dedication to diligently working towards optimal physical condition and aspiring to contribute to the team in the future.
Lamptey’s most recent appearance for the Black Stars was in the 2022 World Cup fixture against South Korea, wherein Ghana secured a 3-2 victory during the group stage. As he continues his journey to recovery, Lamptey is presently in Ghana, actively participating in charitable endeavors through his foundation, the Tariq Lamptey Foundation.
