Otto Addo backs Ghana response after Austria defeat ahead of Germany friendly
Otto Addo has expressed confidence that Ghana national team will respond strongly in their friendly against Germany national team following a heavy defeat to Austria.
Ghana head into Monday’s match in Stuttgart seeking to recover from a 5-1 loss to Austria national team in Vienna, a result that has raised fresh concerns about the team’s readiness ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The defeat marked a difficult outing for the Black Stars during the March international window, but Addo believes it has provided an opportunity for reflection and improvement within the squad.
“We had a lot to analyze after the last match, which was a very, very big disappointment for us,” he told the media before Monday’s game.
“We talked a lot, analyzed a lot, and even though we’re facing a stronger opponent, I’m optimistic about our ability to handle the situation.”
The Ghana coach indicated that the team has spent time reviewing their shortcomings from the Austria match, with a focus on correcting errors and strengthening their overall performance.
Facing Germany presents a significant challenge, but Addo suggested his players are prepared to respond with greater discipline and determination.
The fixture, scheduled as Ghana’s final game of the international break, is expected to offer a clearer indication of the team’s progress.
Addo also confirmed that preparations have largely been completed, with the squad now concentrating on final adjustments ahead of kick-off.
“We are ready; this was our last training session, we will fine-tune the last details and turn our attention to tomorrow’s match ,” he concluded.
The match in Stuttgart will provide Ghana with an immediate chance to demonstrate their response after the setback in Vienna, as they continue to build towards upcoming international competitions.
