Avram Grant Appointed Head Coach of Ghana’s Black Stars
After weeks of speculation, Avram Grant has officially been named the new head coach of Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars. The announcement comes just ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, set to kick off on January 17 in Equatorial Guinea. Grant’s contract will begin on December 1.
The Israeli coach, well known for his previous stints at Chelsea, West Ham, and Partizan Belgrade, will be taking on his first African national team assignment. Despite concerns about his lack of experience in African football, GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi is confident in the choice.
“All outstanding questions regarding Avram Grant have been answered, and we believe he is the right man for the job,” said Nyantakyi during a press conference.
Grant now faces the challenge of preparing the Black Stars in a short period for a major continental tournament, with high expectations from both fans and officials.
