AFCON 2015 – ASAMOAH GYAN RETURNS FOR DECISIVE GHANA VS TOGO CLASH
In a dramatic turnaround, Asamoah Gyan—initially ruled out due to injury—is back in contention for Ghana’s crucial final qualifier against Togo this Wednesday in Tamale.
The Black Stars’ captain missed the 0-1 loss to Uganda on Matchday 5 due to a thigh problem, sparking fears about his availability. But after passing a late fitness test and participating in the final training session on Tuesday, Gyan has been declared fit by the medical staff and is expected to lead the attack.
This is a major boost for interim coach Maxwell Konadu, especially with Andre Ayew and Kwadwo Asamoah both sidelined. Ghana sits atop Group E with 8 points and needs just a draw to guarantee qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
All eyes now turn to the pitch in Tamale, where Gyan’s return could prove pivotal in sealing Ghana’s ticket to the continental showpiece.
