The Ghana Football Federation (GFA) has taken a significant stride towards nurturing young talent with the launch of its grassroots football support programme. President of the GFA, Kurt Okraku, revealed the details of the initiative aimed at bolstering the development of grassroots football across the nation.

In a bid to elevate grassroots football development, the GFA has initiated a comprehensive support programme tailored for youth clubs.

President Kurt Okraku, who also heads the National Underage Committee, unveiled the programme during the inaugural meeting of the committee in Accra on March 28, 2024.

The announcement officially came to light on Tuesday, marking a pivotal moment for Ghanaian football.

The grassroots football support programme encompasses various components, including investment in the procurement of footballs for youth clubs, provision of ten trophies for regional league champions, and recognition of outstanding performers with plaques awarded to the top scorers and best players at the end of each season.

Additionally, trial opportunities in the U-17 and U-15 national teams will be offered to the standout players and top scorers, further enhancing their pathways to national representation.

Regional champions will receive a set of jerseys and qualify for the U-17 National Interclub Champions League, while top scorers in the U-17 national competition will be rewarded with vouchers worth GH¢1000.00.

Furthermore, the best player in the national championship will be presented with a cell phone, emphasizing the programme’s commitment to acknowledging and nurturing talent at the grassroots level.

The programme also aims to enhance the capabilities of coaches from clubs participating in the national championship, further emphasizing the GFA’s dedication to fostering a conducive environment for the growth and development of young football talent in Ghana.

With the launch of this groundbreaking initiative, the GFA reaffirms its commitment to nurturing the next generation of football stars and fortifying the foundation of Ghanaian football from the grassroots up.

As the programme unfolds, it is poised to shape the future of football in Ghana and pave the way for emerging talents to flourish on the national and international stage.
