The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reaffirmed its commitment to backing the U-20 women’s team, the Black Princesses, as they gear up to represent Ghana at the upcoming African Games in March 2024. The GFA delegation, spearheaded by Executive Council member Gifty Oware Mensah, recently visited the Black Princesses’ camp in Cape Coast to convey the association’s full support.
During the meeting with the players at their base in Accra, Gifty Oware Mensah, representing the GFA, emphasized the significance of the Black Princesses’ role as the foundation of women’s football in Ghana.
She conveyed the association’s confidence in the team’s capabilities and urged them to excel in the women’s football tournament, echoing the sentiment that success in the African Games would resonate positively as they aspire to participate in international competitions.
“Participating in the African Games is a test of how people will support us going to Colombia. Everyone has something to offer, but remember we are a team.
We win together. You wear the national colors, so make the country proud,” stated Gifty Oware Mensah, underscoring the collective responsibility and pride associated with representing Ghana on the international stage.
The GFA Executive Council expressed firm belief in the Princesses, referencing their triumphant performance in the WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup in Kumasi.
“You have already shown that you are champions after winning the WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup in Kumasi, and we are therefore confident that you will succeed in this competition,” assured Gifty Oware Mensah, reiterating the GFA’s steadfast support.
“The Football Federation will support you through thick and thin.”
As the Black Princesses embark on their journey to the African Games, the support from the GFA serves as a motivating force, highlighting the collaborative spirit that fuels the aspirations of the national team.
The GFA’s backing reinforces the collective goal of making Ghana proud on the continental stage and beyond.
