Nothing is going well for John Mensah. The Ghana Black Stars captain has been unemployed since the start of the football season in Europe. Released by Lyon last June, the rough defender is still looking for a base. Tested at West Ham for two weeks, the London club did not retain the former Rennais. “ Mensah and two other players have been training with us for a few days but I think I have enough defenders so we saw fit not to sign him ,” said Hammers manager Sam Allardyce.
Faced with this situation, Mensah, who so wanted to stay in the Premier League, would have finally turned to the English Championship (equivalent to the second division). Blackburn Rovers, relegated last season, are reportedly ready to offer the former Sunderland player a contract. The two parties are currently in discussions.
Already absent against Malawi in the first leg of the CAN 2013 qualifiers with Ghana (2-0), Mensah is also not expected to make the trip to Blantyre on October 13. The Black Stars squad, which is full of many high-level players, will obviously not need an unemployed executive.{jcomments on}
