Black Stars Learn 2026 World Cup Bonus Package

Ghana has confirmed the financial rewards awaiting its players at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with each member of the Black Stars squad set to receive a participation bonus of $100,000.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, who outlined the government’s plans for the national team’s involvement in the tournament during an appearance on the programme Hot Issues.

The bonus matches the amount paid to players during Ghana’s participation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, maintaining the same level of reward for representing the country on football’s biggest stage.

According to the minister, every player selected for the tournament will receive the payment simply for reaching and participating in the final phase of the competition.

The confirmation provides clarity over one of the key issues often discussed ahead of major international tournaments, with players now aware of the financial package attached to Ghana’s World Cup campaign.

Beyond player bonuses, the government is also preparing financially for the country’s participation in the tournament. Kofi Adams revealed that authorities are awaiting the release of an overall budget estimated at 150 million Ghanaian cedis (GH¢).

The proposed budget is intended to cover the various expenses associated with Ghana’s involvement in the World Cup, including preparations and logistical requirements linked to the team’s campaign.

Attention will now turn to events on the pitch as the Black Stars prepare for the tournament in North America.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L and face a challenging schedule in the opening phase of the competition. Their campaign is set to begin on 17 June 2026 against Panama in Toronto.

The Black Stars will then take on England in Boston on 23 June before concluding their group-stage fixtures against Croatia in Philadelphia on 27 June.

The group presents a significant test for Ghana, who will be aiming to progress beyond the opening round against three established international opponents.

With the tournament approaching, the confirmation of player bonuses and the wider budget framework provides a clearer picture of the country’s preparations as the Black Stars gear up for another appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

The focus will now shift from administrative planning to football matters as Ghana finalise their preparations for the global showpiece.
