Getafe president Angel Torres says negotiations to sign former Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal have broken down, but the club will make another attempt to complete a deal for the Spain international.
Carvajal is currently a free agent, and Spanish media have linked him with a move to Getafe on a free transfer.
Speaking to El Chiringuito, Torres said there was no agreement in place for the defender.
“There is nothing, everything has collapsed,” he said.
“There is no news and there is no agreement, but we will try to complete the deal.”
Torres added that the move would require approval from all the relevant parties, including La Liga and the player, meaning there would be no immediate confirmation.
“We have to get the approval of all parties, La Liga and the player. Nothing will be settled today,” he said.
Carvajal left Real Madrid in the summer of 2026 after his contract with the club expired.
The full-back made 451 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 14 goals and providing 66 assists. During his time at the club, he won the UEFA Champions League six times, the UEFA Super Cup five times and the FIFA Club World Cup five times.
He also lifted the Spanish Super Cup on four occasions, won La Liga four times and claimed two Copa del Rey trophies. His honours with Real Madrid also include the Intercontinental Cup.
Getafe are 11th in the La Liga table, with eight points from two wins, two draws and three defeats.
Their next match is against Barcelona on Saturday in the eighth round of La Liga at Camp Nou.
