Getafe hold talks with free agent Dani Carvajal

Getafe have opened negotiations with former Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal, according to ABC.

Carvajal is currently a free agent after his contract with Real Madrid ended last summer. No agreement has yet been reached and no contract has been signed, but discussions are understood to be progressing positively.

Getafe manager Jose Bordalas is said to be very pleased by the possibility of bringing the experienced defender to his squad.

Carvajal is free to join any club immediately and does not have to wait until the winter transfer window opens in January. The 34-year-old has not joined another club since leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season.

The negotiations remain ongoing, with the two parties yet to finalise the terms of a possible move. However, the report says the talks have so far developed in a positive direction.

Carvajal’s availability has also attracted interest elsewhere. A few weeks ago, TeamTalk reported that Alvaro Arbeloa, the manager of Fulham, was considering signing him to benefit from his long experience in football.

Carvajal ended his spell with Real Madrid when his contract expired at the conclusion of the previous season. Despite being unattached since then, he has continued to be eligible to sign for a club outside the usual transfer-window period.
