German-Togolese defender Omar Traoré set to leave Heidenheim
Omar Traoré is edging closer to a departure from 1. FC Heidenheim, with growing reports suggesting the right-back will not renew his contract, which runs until June 2026.
According to Sky Sports, the 26-year-old is increasingly likely to see out his deal and leave the club on a free transfer next summer, bringing an end to his three-year spell with the Bundesliga side.
The prospect of signing Traoré without a transfer fee has attracted significant interest across Europe, with Union Berlin emerging as a strong contender for his signature. The Berlin-based club are keen to reinforce their wide defensive options and view Traoré’s pace and attacking support as key assets.
However, Union are expected to face stiff competition from abroad. Valencia CF and SS Lazio have both been monitoring the defender closely, having scouted him during the 2024/25 winter period. Both clubs are now reportedly preparing to step up their interest ahead of the summer window.
With multiple suitors lining up, Traoré’s future appears set to become one of the notable free transfer stories in the coming months as clubs look to secure a valuable addition without a transfer fee.
