German-Nigerian star Jamal Musiala back in training as Bayern target Christmas return
Jamal Musiala has taken a big step toward a full recovery, joining his Bayern Munich teammates for parts of team training on Tuesday. This welcome sight marks a significant milestone in the German star’s arduous rehabilitation process.
Musiala has been sidelined for months following a devastating injury sustained during the recent Club World Cup campaign in the USA. His return to the pitch has sparked optimism that the gifted midfielder could see some action before the Bundesliga’s winter recess.
The 22-year-old playmaker, who has Nigerian heritage, suffered a dislocated ankle and a fractured fibula. This horrific injury occurred after a collision with then-Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Initial reports suggested the injury was season-ending, effectively writing the young star off until the next campaign began.
However, Musiala’s successful surgery and diligent recovery efforts have put him well ahead of schedule. The club documented his return to the grass on Tuesday morning, confirming the major progress.
Bayern now faces just one more game before the domestic break begins. They are set to clash with 1. FC Heidenheim in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Manager Vincent Kompany may potentially award Musiala a cameo appearance in this fixture. This would be a cautious first step back to match fitness for the crucial star.
Kompany is determined to carefully manage the German international’s minutes. The coach’s primary concern remains preventing any further setbacks following his long absence from the first team.
Musiala himself has previously emphasized the slow and careful nature of his comeback. He expressed deep gratitude for the encouragement he has received during the challenging time.
“It’s always one step at a time,” the midfielder noted back in October. “You don’t want to do anything too quickly.” His focus remains on achieving full fitness before committing to competitive games. “When I come back, I want to be at 100 per cent, at a good level,” he added.
