German-Nigerian forward Lukas Nmecha to play his last match for VfL Wolfsburg this weekend ahead of departure
Germany born forward of Nigerian descent, Lukas Nmecha, will leave VfL Wolfsburg at the end of the season.
He will play his last match for the German Bundesliga club this weekend when the team takes on Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, May 17.
Nmecha joined Wolfsburg in the summer of 2021 from English Premier League side Manchester City for a reported fee of eight million euros.
He arrived as a promising young talent and even earned a call-up to the German national team. Unfortunately, a series of injuries derailed his momentum and limited his impact at the club.
Now 26, Nmecha will part ways with Wolfsburg at the end of the season. The club offered the striker a new deal on significantly reduced terms due to his injuries this season.
The German-Nigerian attacker declined the offer and will leave on a free transfer, despite his contract running until June 30, 2025.
It is understood that English side Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Nmecha and have already contacted his representatives over a possible signing this summer.
