Former German international Mario Gotze has admitted that the departure of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has left a void in the Eintracht Frankfurt team.
Marmoush signed for Manchester City from the German Bundesliga outfit in the January transfer window for a fee of 75 million euros.
According to Gotze, Frankfurt misses the attacking talent who won games for the team on many occasions.
He believes the club must find a way to fill the void left by the Egyptian sensation.
“We have to compensate for that first. First of all, Omar played a key role and was a goal threat, won us games, and was also incredibly important to the team in terms of character. And when that’s no longer there in the middle of the season, the team has to find its feet again,” Mario Gotze said in an interview with RTL/ntv and sport.de.
Götze continued: “You have an impact on so many issues within the team, the club, and so on. And that has to be compensated for first.”
Marmoush made a name for himself in the German Bundesliga before signing for Manchester City.
Before leaving Frankfurt, he was one of the best attackers in the Bundesliga, having scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists for the team.
After leaving, Frankfurt have only won three out of the 10 games played.
