Pape Gueye’s future at Olympique de Marseille hangs in the balance as his contract nears its end, sparking speculation of a potential departure from the club. However, amidst the uncertainty, teammate Geoffrey Kondogbia has made a public plea for the midfielder to extend his stay with the Marseille outfit.

At 25 years old, Gueye has made only six appearances in Ligue 1 this season, with his current contract set to expire on June 30, 2024.

Despite receiving two contract extension offers from the club, the defensive midfielder has yet to commit, raising concerns about his imminent departure.

Offering his support, Geoffrey Kondogbia, the 31-year-old Olympique de Marseille midfielder and Central African international, has voiced his desire for Gueye to remain at the club.

Following Marseille’s recent victory against FC Nantes (2-0), Kondogbia took to social media, assuming the role of an agent, as he commented on a post by Gueye, stating, “Extend Pope!” This public endorsement underscores Kondogbia’s wish for his teammate to continue his journey with Marseille.

However, the ultimate decision rests with Gueye, whose response to Kondogbia’s appeal remains uncertain.

As discussions surrounding Gueye’s future intensify behind the scenes at Olympique de Marseille, Kondogbia’s intervention adds a layer of intrigue to the ongoing saga.

The outcome of this delicate situation will undoubtedly be closely monitored by fans and stakeholders alike, as Marseille navigates through the complexities of contract negotiations and player retention in the competitive landscape of football.
