French manager of Senegalese descent, Patrick Vieira, has shared his satisfaction with the team’s draw against Empoli in the Italian Serie A.
Although the team missed out on all three points, the coach believes his team did well picking a point.
“This is an important point. From a playing perspective, we’ve done better, but we have to give credit to Empoli – they were aggressive.
“It wasn’t a beautiful match, but we bypassed our midfield a bit more, going for a slightly more direct approach. In terms of competitiveness and winning the first challenge, we did well, and that’s why I’m pleased with the point we earned,” Patrick Vieira said in a post-match interview.
The draw leaves Genoa 12th on the Italian Serie A standings and five places ahead of the relegation zone.
Patrick Vieira and his Genoa side must target wins in upcoming matches to climb higher on the league table.
