Togolese international Josué Homawoo is set to leave Dinamo Bucharest at the end of the season, with Turkish club Gaziantep FK ready to sign him on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old defender, who joined the Romanian side in July 2023, is not expected to extend his contract.
Failed winter move and contract stand-off
During the winter transfer window, Gaziantep FK attempted to secure Homawoo’s services, but Dinamo Bucharest refused to sanction the move, insisting they needed him for the remainder of the campaign.
The disagreement saw the player sidelined for several matches, missing a total of eight games before returning to action.
Despite the challenges, he has made valuable contributions to the team, including scoring one goal this season.
Three-year deal in Turkey
Homawoo has already reached an agreement with Gaziantep FK, where a three-year contract awaits him.
The move will reportedly come with an improved salary, offering the defender a fresh start in Turkish football.
Homawoo’s market value is currently estimated at €800,000, and his expected departure will mark the end of a brief spell in Romania.
Before his time at Dinamo Bucharest, he played for Red Star FC in France and had stints with FC Nantes and FC Lorient earlier in his career.
Gaziantep FK’s upcoming fixtures
Gaziantep FK, currently battling in the Turkish top flight, will soon face Konyaspor in their next league match.
With Homawoo set to join in the summer, the club will be hoping his arrival strengthens their defensive options for the upcoming season.
