Gattuso Disputes Suspension Length for Iliman Ndiaye

Nudu

Following Iliman Ndiaye’s three-match suspension for a red card received in the clash against Rennes, Marseille’s coach, Gennaro Gattuso, has voiced his reservations about the severity of the penalty, branding it “a little excessive.”

During the recent fixture against Rennes, Ndiaye faced an early exit after an incident involving a challenge on Belocian, leading to the disciplinary committee’s decision to sideline the Senegalese international for three matches.

Gattuso, addressing this sanction during a press briefing, expressed his view that the punishment might be disproportionate.

“Although I had the opportunity to converse with the player over the past days, I cannot personally intervene in this matter. Hence, my individual opinion might not carry much weight.

Consequently, I prefer to refrain from commenting on whether the suspension is justifiable or not. Undoubtedly, the player might feel disheartened, but I’ve had discussions with him for two consecutive days. Personally, I find it a bit challenging, somewhat excessive, but I uphold the authority of the referees.

Therefore, I choose not to delve further into this topic,” articulated the Italian coach, as reported by heart of marseillais.

With Ndiaye unavailable for the upcoming match against Lorient, Gattuso will navigate this fixture without the Senegalese striker. However, he looks to alternatives in the form of Sarr, Aubameyang, or Vitinha to fill the void left by Ndiaye’s absence for the crucial clash on Sunday evening.
