Manchester United and Chelsea are closely tracking Tromso’s rising defender Sedi Kinteh ahead of a possible summer transfer for the 19-year-old Gambia international.
The left-sided centre-back, who can also fill in at left-back, has impressed clubs across Europe after a standout debut season in Norway. He joined Tromso on a five-year deal following a successful trial after moving from a Senegalese academy, and his electric pace has been clocked at close to 37km/h.
Tromso value Kinteh at around £4 million, a fee that has alerted several clubs looking for high-upside defensive talent. Swiss sides Basel and Young Boys are weighing up a late move before their transfer window closes on February 16, hoping to sign him early and potentially sell him on for profit in the future.
Chelsea, who recently missed out on Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet to Liverpool, remain in the market for defensive reinforcements and see Kinteh as one of the options to refresh their backline.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are assessing young defenders like Kinteh as they plan squad changes with a particular focus on strengthening both defence and midfield.
