Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has advised the club to pursue a move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, asserting that his qualities would make him a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s attacking setup.
Gallas, who spent several years at Arsenal, has expressed doubts over the club’s current forward options, particularly Germany international Kai Havertz, who was signed from Chelsea last summer.
Havertz, though capable, has struggled to live up to expectations at the Emirates, scoring 21 goals in 68 appearances.
In an interview with Genting Casino, Gallas stated, “Kai Havertz has never been the right man to take Arsenal to the Premier League title.
He’s a good player, but not world-class.
Arsenal need a striker like Osimhen. It’s obvious they need to wake up.
The former French international believes that Arsenal’s pursuit of silverware hinges on signing a player of Osimhen’s calibre.
He further expressed confusion over Osimhen’s current position, as he plays for Turkish club Galatasaray rather than in one of Europe’s top leagues.
I don’t understand why Osimhen is at Galatasaray.
He should be playing in the Premier League, and Arsenal could benefit from his talent, Gallas added, emphasizing his belief that the 24-year-old striker, who has been in remarkable form for both Napoli and the Nigerian national team, could provide the firepower Arsenal needs to challenge for the Premier League title.
Arsenal have been on the lookout for a top-class striker to complement their attacking options, and with Gallas’ endorsement, Osimhen’s name is likely to remain on the radar for future transfer windows.
