Galatasaray show interest in Lorient’s Cameroonian midfielder Arthur Avom

Cameroonian midfielder Arthur Avom of FC Lorient has been linked with a move to Galatasaray in Turkey’s Super Lig.

The 21-year-old plays in central midfield and has started both of Lorient’s Ligue 1 matches this season, completing 180 minutes without scoring or assisting.

Avom joined Lorient’s senior squad from the club’s reserve side in July 2024 and helped the team win the French second-tier title during the 2024-25 campaign. He has since made two Ligue 1 appearances in total, both coming this season.

The player’s contract with Lorient runs until 30 June 2027, while his current market value is listed at €20m. A move to Galatasaray would therefore involve a player who remains under contract with the French club beyond the current campaign.

Avom was born in Yaounde and represents Cameroon. He moved to Europe from Cameroonian club Fauve Azur before joining Lorient B in August 2023, then progressing into the first-team group the following year.

Lorient are competing in Ligue 1 this season, while Galatasaray are based in the Turkish top flight. The reported interest comes with Avom established in Lorient’s starting line-up at the beginning of the 2026-27 campaign, although the transfer remains at the rumour stage.
