Galatasaray not ready to sell Victor Osimhen

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has ruled out a summer sale of Nigeria star Victor Osimhen and are determined to keep hold of their star forward ahead of the upcoming football campaign.

Osimhen has emerged as one of the most sought-after strikers in European football following a sensational spell in Turkey, attracting strong interest from major clubs including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.

However, Galatasaray’s president has made it clear that the club are not entertaining any discussions regarding a potential transfer.

Speaking about the Super Eagles star’s future, Özbek delivered a strong and memorable response while emphasizing the club’s determination to keep the striker.

“We are not considering selling Victor Osimhen. Putting a price on a player we don’t intend to sell is like dressing a footballer before he’s even born,” Özbek said.

The statement is expected to excite Galatasaray supporters, many of whom have been eager for the club to retain Osimhen after his outstanding performances throughout the campaign.

The Nigerian international joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal from S.S.C. Napoli on August 31, 2024. As part of the agreement, the Turkish champions agreed to cover the striker’s €6 million net salary during his stay in Istanbul.

Since arriving in Turkey, Osimhen has quickly become one of the most influential players in the squad. His pace, movement, aerial ability, and ruthless finishing have made him a nightmare for defenders and a fan favourite at Galatasaray.

His impressive displays have naturally attracted attention from Europe’s elite clubs, particularly as teams search for a proven world-class striker ahead of next season.

Barcelona are reportedly monitoring attacking reinforcements as they continue rebuilding their squad, while Real Madrid have also been linked with several elite forwards despite already boasting one of Europe’s strongest attacking units.

Chelsea, meanwhile, remain in the market for a reliable goalscorer and have long admired Osimhen’s qualities, with the Premier League side repeatedly linked with the Nigerian star over recent transfer windows.

Despite the growing speculation, Özbek’s comments suggest Galatasaray are determined to resist pressure from Europe’s biggest clubs and keep hold of their prized asset.

Osimhen’s situation remains one of the major stories to watch heading into the summer transfer window, especially given his status as one of Africa’s biggest football stars.

For now, however, Galatasaray’s position appears clear — the club do not intend to negotiate a sale, and they remain fully committed to keeping the Nigerian striker in Istanbul.
