Galatasaray’s vice-president has insisted the club is determined to keep Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, despite mounting interest from some of Europe’s biggest teams ahead of the summer transfer window.
Currently on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has been the subject of growing transfer speculation in recent weeks.
Juventus, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United have all been linked with a potential move for the forward, who is expected to be available for €75 million when his release clause becomes active this summer.
However, Galatasaray has not given up hope of keeping the prolific Nigerian international in Istanbul.
In a recent interview with AS, club vice-president Ibrahim Hatipoglu addressed the uncertainty surrounding Osimhen’s next move and pushed back against assumptions that a departure was inevitable.
“His comments shouldn’t be interpreted as a farewell,” Hatipoglu stated. “He simply said that even if he were to leave, Galatasaray would always have a place in his heart.
That doesn’t mean he has told us he’s going. In fact, we’re doing everything possible to make sure he stays.”
The comments from Hatipoglu underline Galatasaray’s commitment to retaining the 25-year-old forward, who has quickly become a fan favourite since arriving in Istanbul.
His performances have not only elevated the club’s domestic campaign but also reignited hope among supporters that the Nigerian might be persuaded to continue in yellow and red beyond the current season.
Osimhen himself has so far avoided confirming any plans regarding his future. When asked about the ongoing speculation, he acknowledged the rumours but preferred to focus on the present.
“There’s always talk about me, but I’m just trying to enjoy the moment right now,” he said. “The support from the fans has been incredible — not only for me but also for my teammates and my family.
Whatever decision is made, it will be the best for everyone. Galatasaray will always have a special place in my heart.”
His remarks have done little to silence transfer chatter but have been seen as a respectful nod to the club and its supporters rather than a clear statement of intent.
The ambiguity surrounding his future has only added fuel to speculation as the summer window approaches.
Behind the scenes, Galatasaray is believed to be preparing for further discussions with both Osimhen and Napoli in a bid to negotiate terms that could keep him at Rams Park next season.
But with Europe’s elite circling and the striker’s release clause soon to be active, competition is expected to be fierce.
Until a decision is reached, Galatasaray fans remain hopeful that their club can pull off what would be one of the biggest coups of the transfer window — convincing Victor Osimhen to stay in Istanbul.
