Galatasaray open talks over Cameroonian defender Enzo Boyomo amid growing transfer interest

Galatasaray have set their sights on Cameroonian centre-back Enzo Boyomo as they prepare to reinforce their defence during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Turkish champions are reportedly exploring the possibility of negotiating a deal with La Liga side Osasuna for the highly-rated defender.

Boyomo, 23, joined Osasuna from Real Valladolid in August 2024 and has since become a mainstay in their backline. His commanding presence, aerial strength, and consistency have been crucial for Jagoba Arrasate’s side throughout the season.

Despite his importance to the club, Boyomo’s future in Pamplona is now uncertain, with a number of clubs circling.

Sources close to the matter suggest that Galatasaray are eager to secure the services of the Cameroonian international, whose performances have caught the attention of several European clubs.

Italian sides and Premier League outfit Aston Villa have also been monitoring Boyomo closely, with scouts having tracked him over recent months.

However, Galatasaray appear to be leading the chase as they make strengthening their defensive line a priority ahead of their domestic title defence and Champions League campaign.

Turkish football journalist Ekrem Konur reports that Galatasaray have made their interest official and are now considering a move to bring Boyomo to Istanbul.

While Osasuna have no intention of parting with the player on the cheap—given he is under contract until May 2029,the Spanish club may be open to discussions if Galatasaray can come close to his €25 million release clause.

It remains to be seen whether the Süper Lig giants will match the full amount or attempt to negotiate a reduced fee. Given the player’s long-term deal and pivotal role in Osasuna’s squad, the Spanish outfit hold a strong position.

Nonetheless, Galatasaray’s willingness to engage in talks suggests they are confident a compromise can be reached.

Boyomo’s potential exit would mark a significant loss for Osasuna, who took a chance on him less than a year ago and have since seen him blossom into one of the most promising defenders in La Liga.

His composure under pressure and leadership qualities at the heart of defence have not only impressed fans but also drawn praise from analysts across Spain.

While no formal offer has yet been submitted, the coming weeks are expected to be pivotal. Galatasaray are believed to be weighing their options carefully, mindful of competition from abroad, and aware that a swift move could be crucial in securing the player before other clubs act.

As negotiations potentially develop, the situation will be closely monitored across multiple markets. With the summer transfer window approaching and clubs across Europe seeking to bolster their squads, Boyomo is likely to remain a hot topic in the rumour mill. Galatasaray, however, appear determined to act quickly and decisively.
