Tensions are rising between Galatasaray and Napoli as negotiations over the permanent transfer of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen have stalled, with reports describing the situation as a “cold war” between the two clubs.
Osimhen, 26, enjoyed a standout loan spell with Galatasaray last season, scoring 37 goals and providing seven assists across 41 appearances.
His performance has convinced the Turkish champions to push for a permanent deal, but talks have grown increasingly strained over financial disagreements.
Galatasaray are reportedly ready to meet the €75 million release clause set by Napoli, but intend to structure the payment in instalments rather than a single transfer fee.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is said to be dissatisfied with the proposed terms, demanding more favourable conditions for his club.
According to reports from Spanish outlet AS, De Laurentiis has made additional requests, including specific timelines for the payment structure, a 20 per cent stake in any future transfer involving Osimhen, and a binding agreement that the striker cannot be sold to any Italian club for at least three years.
The growing list of conditions has further complicated negotiations and created a stand-off between both parties.
Galatasaray remain determined to bring the Nigerian international back to Istanbul permanently, but Napoli’s firm stance and added demands have caused talks to cool significantly.
With Osimhen’s future in limbo, the impasse could affect both clubs’ transfer strategies as the new season approaches.
Galatasaray are reluctant to abandon their pursuit of a player who proved central to their campaign, while Napoli appear unwilling to compromise without securing full financial and strategic guarantees.
