Gabonese international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close to sealing his return to French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille.
According to sources, the French outfit is closing in on a deal to re-sign the forward and should wrap up everything next week.
The former African footballer of the year is expected to rejoin Marseille once he finalises the termination of his two-year contract with Saudi side Al-Qadsiah.
Aubameyang originally joined Marseille two years ago following his exit from Chelsea.
He signed a three-year deal and quickly became a fan favourite, delivering an impressive 30 goals and 11 assists in 51 appearances.
Despite the club enduring a turbulent season marked by managerial changes, from Marcelino to Gennaro Gattuso, and later Jean-Louis Gasset, Aubameyang’s form remained a rare bright spot.
After spending just one season in Saudi Arabia, where he netted 21 goals in 36 matches, speculation about a possible contract termination sparked interest from several European clubs.
Marseille wasted no time expressing their desire to bring him back and have offered the 36-year-old a two-year contract.
