FWZ, led by Kuwaiti content creator “Fawaz”, were crowned Kings League MENA Split 1 champions after beating Morocco’s Ultra Chmicha 5-4 in a dramatic final at Riyadh’s Cool Arena.
The final was the climax of an action-packed Final Four programme, watched by a large crowd at the venue and a substantial live-streaming audience. FWZ had overcome Jordan’s Red Zone 8-5 in the semi-finals, while Ultra Chmicha defeated Jordanian side 3BS. The three matches produced 35 goals.
FWZ made a fast start in the final, with David Louisa and Igor Campos scoring inside the opening two minutes to put the Kuwaiti side 2-0 ahead. Mark Granero pulled one back for Ultra Chmicha before half-time, and Masi Dabo equalised after the break.
Lionel Aldairti restored FWZ’s lead before Fawaz converted a “President Penalty” to make it 4-2. Waleed Jaadi levelled for the Moroccan team in the 40th minute during Matchball Mode, but Mycol Hernandez scored shortly afterwards to secure the title for FWZ.
“It is truly an indescribable feeling and we are absolutely delighted,” FWZ president Fawaz said. “We have worked extremely hard and, thank God, we are now enjoying an exceptional moment. I would like to sincerely thank our fans for supporting us, whether by attending the stadium or continuing to back us across all social media platforms. We thank God for this achievement.”
Granero, who scored 16 goals, was named the tournament’s top scorer. Igor Campos was awarded the final’s Most Valuable Player prize, while 3BS goalkeeper Jean Marc Koffi (JMK) received the award for the best goalkeeper of Split 1. The prizes were presented by Wael Al Fayez, executive director of Kings League MENA.
In the semi-finals, FWZ took control early against Red Zone and secured victory through David Louisa during Matchball Mode. Ultra Chmicha progressed against 3BS after using the Secret Card to break the deadlock, before Granero completed his hat-trick with the winning goal.
The closing event also featured a Call of Duty-themed penalty challenge staged to mark the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 by Activision, a Kings League MENA partner. The character Ghost oversaw the contest between gaming creators BanderitaX, representing Price, and Aziz, representing Ghost. Aziz won and received a special commemorative game trophy.
Split 1 featured 10 teams from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar, up from eight teams in the inaugural Kings Cup MENA in 2025. The line-up included Saudi Arabia’s DR7, led by “Darbaha”, RA2, led by “Raed”, and Rising Peaks, led by Abdulrahman Al Shahri; Qatar’s ABO FC, led by “AboFlah”; Egypt’s Turbo, led by “Tarbon”; Kuwait’s FWZ; Morocco’s Ultra Chmicha and Bakhira FC; and Jordan’s 3BS and Red Zone.
