Fulham consider move for Augsburg’s French-Congolese defender Chrislain Matsima

Chrislain Matsima, the French-Congolese centre-back at Augsburg, has been linked with a move to Fulham in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old joined Augsburg permanently from Monaco for €5m in July 2025 after spending the previous season on loan at the Bundesliga club. He has started both of Augsburg’s matches this season, playing the full 90 minutes in a Bundesliga fixture and a DFB-Pokal tie.

Matsima’s potential availability comes despite him having a contract with Augsburg until 30 June 2030. His current market value is listed at €22m, although there is no indication of a fee being discussed or that negotiations have taken place.

The defender developed through Monaco’s academy and made loan moves to Lorient and Clermont Foot before establishing himself in Germany. His move to Augsburg became permanent last summer, when the club completed the signing following his loan spell.

Fulham’s interest would represent a potential switch from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, but the link remains unconfirmed and there has been no indication that a transfer is close. Matsima remains an Augsburg player under a long-term contract and has begun the 2026-27 campaign as a starter.
