Frosinone sweep Fiorentina aside as Omar Fayed named among substitutes

Frosinone claimed their first Serie A victory of the season with a convincing 3-0 win over Fiorentina, while Egypt international Omar Fayed was included on the bench for the first time since joining the club a few days ago.

Antonio Raimondo scored twice and Gabriele Bracaglia added the other goal as Frosinone secured all three points in the second round of the Italian league.

Fiorentina were unable to find a response at either end of the match and remain without a point after suffering their second defeat of the campaign. Frosinone, meanwhile, followed up their opening result by recording their first victory after two rounds.

Raimondo opened the scoring in the 26th minute. The forward met a cross from Giorgi Kvernadze and finished the move to give Frosinone the lead.

The visitors doubled their advantage 12 minutes later through Bracaglia. Giacomo Calo delivered an accurate cross into the penalty area, and Bracaglia headed the ball into the net to make it 2-0.

Fiorentina were unable to reduce the deficit after the interval, and Frosinone added a third goal in the 68th minute. Bracaglia turned provider, sending a well-weighted pass from midfield towards Raimondo, who completed his brace by placing the ball beyond the Fiorentina defence and into the net.

The result gave Frosinone a comfortable victory and left Fiorentina facing a second successive loss at the start of the league campaign.

Fayed was named among the substitutes but did not feature in the match. It was the first time the Egypt international had been on the bench since completing his move to Frosinone only a few days earlier.

Frosinone will now prepare for their third-round fixture against Venezia next Sunday as they look to build on their opening league win.

Fiorentina’s next opportunity to collect their first points of the season will come on Saturday, when they face Torino in the third round of the Italian league.
