It appears that several key players from the Cameroon national football team, the Indomitable Lions, will be absent for the friendly match against Ukraine on June 1, as well as for the World Cup qualifiers for Brazil 2014. The absence is due to various reasons, including club commitments and injuries.
Key players such as Samuel Eto’o, the captain of the team, will be playing in the final of the Russian Cup, while Charles Itandje is engaged in the play-offs with his Greek club, Paok Thessaloniki, until June 2. Barcelona’s Alexandre Song and Granada’s Allan Nyom, who play in Spain, are obligated to finish the season with their clubs on the last day next weekend.
Additionally, Tottenham’s left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto suffered an injury during a tour against Jamaica, which will keep him out of the friendly match against Ukraine.
Despite these absences, Cameroon is currently the leader of Pool I and is set to face Togo on June 9 for the 4th day of World Cup qualifiers, followed by a match against DR Congo as part of the 5th day.
