French Ligue 1 side, Stade Rennais FC, is reportedly considering parting ways with Cameroonian defender Christopher Wooh during the January transfer window.
The decision comes amid the club’s efforts to revamp its squad under new coach Jorge Sampaoli, following a lacklustre first half of the season.
With aspirations of climbing back to the top of Ligue 1, Rennes has embarked on a major squad restructuring to support Sampaoli’s vision. However, financing the arrival of new recruits requires freeing up a significant budget, and Wooh’s departure has emerged as a likely move to facilitate this.
The 23-year-old Cameroonian, who joined Rennes from RC Lens, has found opportunities limited under Sampaoli’s leadership. Reports suggest that Wooh is no longer part of the coach’s plans, making his exit increasingly probable.
Under contract with Rennes until June 2026, Wooh is valued at €7 million by Transfermarkt. The sale of the Louvre-born defender would provide Rennes with the financial resources needed to secure reinforcements and bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.
As Rennes prepares for a busy transfer window, Wooh’s potential departure signals the club’s commitment to reshaping its roster and pursuing a stronger performance in Ligue 1 under Sampaoli’s guidance.
