Genoa head coach Patrick Vieira has emerged as a candidate for the managerial position at AS Roma, according to reports from Sky Italia.
The former Arsenal captain assumed leadership of Genoa earlier this season following the dismissal of Alberto Gilardino.
Under Vieira’s guidance, Genoa currently occupies 12th place in Serie A, maintaining a 14-point cushion above the relegation zone.
Born in Dakar, Senegal, Vieira has consistently embraced his African heritage throughout his career.
AS Roma’s interest in Vieira comes as the club evaluates potential successors to interim manager Claudio Ranieri, who was appointed to lead the team until the end of the current season.
In addition to Vieira, Roma is reportedly considering several other candidates, including Stefano Pioli, Maurizio Sarri, Vincenzo Montella, Roberto Mancini, and Massimiliano Allegri.
Vieira’s contract with Genoa extends until the summer of 2026, indicating a commitment to the club’s long-term project.
His managerial career has seen him take on roles at New York City FC, OGC Nice, Crystal Palace, and RC Strasbourg before his current tenure at Genoa.
His diverse experiences across different leagues and his emphasis on team development have contributed to his growing reputation in European football.
