French-born tactician of Senegalese descent, Habib Beye, has revealed that he will decide his future at FC Stade Rennais at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
The coach stepped in at the end of January, taking over from Jorge Sampaoli, as Rennes battled to escape relegation. He was handed a short-term contract running until the close of the Ligue 1 campaign, with an option to extend should specific conditions be met.
Under coach Habib Beye’s leadership, Les Rennais have successfully steered clear of the relegation zone and are now poised for a secure mid-table finish. With only a few fixtures remaining, the club no longer has enough time to mount a serious push for European qualification, but survival in the top flight is all but assured.
A key part of Beye’s contract extension depended on securing Rennes’ Ligue 1 status — an objective that is now almost achieved, pending only mathematical confirmation. When asked about his plans beyond this season, the coach remained cautious, explaining that discussions with the club’s hierarchy are yet to take place.
“We will see on 18th May,” he said on Wednesday.
Despite his measured response, Habib Beye hinted at a desire to continue his journey with Stade Rennais.
“I am at an exceptional club,” said the former Red Star boss.
Meanwhile, checks have revealed that Stade Rennais are satisfied with the work of Habib Beye and want to continue with the tactician.
