AS Monaco have confirmed the signing of promising young midfielder Anis Soubeir from FC Metz. The 18-year-old has penned his first professional contract, committing his future to the Principality club until June 2028.

The announcement was made official on Friday through a club statement, in which Monaco welcomed the teenager and outlined their development plans for the new recruit. Soubeir, who departs Metz after progressing through the club’s youth system, will initially join Monaco’s Elite Group when pre-season training resumes.

“AS Monaco is pleased to announce the arrival of Anis Soubeir from FC Metz,” the club’s statement read. “The 18-year-old midfielder has signed a professional contract with the Club until June 2028 and will join the Elite Group upon resumption.”

Soubeir becomes the latest addition to Monaco’s talent-rich academy system, which has long been recognised for nurturing some of France’s brightest footballing prospects.

Although the young midfielder has yet to make his senior debut, he is viewed as a player with strong technical ability, composure on the ball, and considerable room for growth under Monaco’s carefully structured development pathway.

The move comes as part of Monaco’s broader strategy to invest in emerging talent, reinforcing the club’s long-standing commitment to youth progression.

Alongside Soubeir, three more signings will be added to Monaco’s U19 ranks, while four academy players have recently signed training contracts, the club confirmed in the same release.

Anis Soubeir’s rise through the Metz academy ranks has not gone unnoticed. Over recent seasons, he has gained a reputation for his intelligence in midfield and maturity beyond his years.

His performances at youth level have attracted attention from several top-flight sides, but Monaco acted swiftly to secure his signature and integrate him into their elite development framework.

The move to the Stade Louis-II offers Soubeir an exciting opportunity to develop in one of France’s most competitive footballing environments. Under the guidance of Monaco’s academy staff and within a club known for providing a pathway to first-team football, the young midfielder will look to follow in the footsteps of academy graduates who have gone on to shine at both domestic and international levels.

While Soubeir will not immediately feature in Monaco’s Ligue 1 squad, the club is expected to monitor his progress closely within the Elite Group setup. If he adapts quickly and continues to impress in training and matches, a promotion to the senior team could come sooner rather than later.

This signing also reflects Monaco’s efforts to strengthen their academy following a strong finish in the 2024–25 Ligue 1 season. As the club prepares for another campaign in the top tier, its investment in youth signals a clear intention to build for both the present and the future.

For now, all eyes will be on Anis Soubeir as he begins the next chapter of his promising career on the Mediterranean coast.
