France forward of Congolese descent, Jean-Philippe Mateta, is reportedly on the radar of Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille.
According to sources in France, Crystal Palace have offered the 27-year-old to Marseille, with new head coach Roberto De Zerbi reportedly keen on bolstering his attacking options.
Despite the club’s interest, it understood that Mateta’s current wages could prove to be a stumbling block, with the move not considered financially viable at this stage.
Mateta enjoyed a standout 2024/25 season with Crystal Palace, netting 14 goals in 37 Premier League appearances and helping the South London club lift the FA Cup in May.
Since joining the Eagles from Bundesliga side Mainz in 2022, he has scored 36 goals in 116 appearances.
The former Le Havre loanee also impressed on the international stage, representing France at the Paris 2024 Olympics under Thierry Henry.
At the Olympics, he scored seven goals in eight matches, helping Les Bleuets secure a silver medal on home soil.
