Inter Milan have opened discussions with the representatives of Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, signalling a potential move to Serie A for the French-Congolese player.
Nkunku, who was born in France to Congolese parents, has endured a challenging spell at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea are now reportedly open to letting him leave just two years after signing him from RB Leipzig.
The 27-year-old joined the Premier League side in 2023 for a reported €60 million fee but has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form during his time in England.
According to L’Équipe, Inter have initiated contact with Nkunku’s camp to explore the feasibility of a transfer this summer.
The Nerazzurri are keen to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season, and view Nkunku as a versatile addition who could provide immediate quality across multiple forward roles.
Despite being under contract at Chelsea until 2029, the club is now willing to listen to offers in the region of €35–40 million—significantly less than the fee they initially paid for his services.
With Chelsea undertaking a rebuild under Enzo Maresca, the club is open to trimming its attacking line, particularly after the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro added fresh competition.
Nkunku, who was once among Europe’s most promising forwards, would be seen as a coup for Inter if they can strike a deal. However, his injury history and Chelsea’s valuation could complicate negotiations.
The Serie A side are expected to assess their options in the coming days, but the early talks indicate a strong interest in reaching an agreement.
