French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille have initiated moves to secure the signing of Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd.
According to sources, the French club has submitted a first offer to West Ham United, hoping to land a deal for the defender this summer.
It is understood that Nayef Aguerd is a priority target for Olympique Marseille, with the side keen on strengthening its defense before next season.
Aguerd, 29, is open to a move to Marseille this summer as he is already set to leave West Ham United.
The defender has made 51 appearances for Morocco’s national team and has a lot of experience at both the club and international levels.
In the second half of the 2024/25 football season, the defender was on loan at Real Sociedad, where he played 36 games in all competitions.
While the Spanish La Liga club wants to sign Nayef Aguerd permanently, the club now faces strong competition from Olympique Marseille.
The defender is said to be attracted by Marseille’s project, under Roberto De Zerbi and fancies a move to France, knowing that he will have the chance to play in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
