French-Cameroonian William Saliba faces potential Arsenal exit amid January transfer talks
Arsenal centre-back William Saliba remains on the radar of European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid as speculation mounts over his future at The Emirates.
The 24-year-old, who has been a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s defensive setup, could be moved on if the club successfully concludes a January deal for a highly rated Brazilian defender.
Saliba, who boasts French nationality alongside his Cameroonian heritage, has impressed consistently since returning to Arsenal after his loan spells in France.
His blend of athleticism, composure, and tactical awareness has made him one of Europe’s most sought-after young defenders, with PSG and Real Madrid reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
The Gunners have already invested heavily this summer, spending over £250 million on reinforcements, including the acquisitions of Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres, and Eberechi Eze.
Defensive depth has also been strengthened with Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia and Piero Hincapie on a loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen, which could become permanent for £45 million next year.
Despite these additions, Arsenal are reportedly preparing another move, this time for Palmeiras’ 19-year-old central defender Luiz Benedetti.
Sources indicate that the north London club have been tracking Benedetti for some time and could launch an official approach in January to fend off competition from Barcelona and Olympiacos.
The Brazilian prodigy, who has a contract until 2029, is valued at just €500,000, a figure that highlights his potential as a long-term defensive asset.
Should Arsenal secure Benedetti, it could pave the way for Saliba’s departure, offering him a new challenge in one of Europe’s elite leagues.
